Multiple wep keys doesn't add much, 802.11 can only transmit using one wep key at a time (the default index). You could put 4 keys into the Access point The issue is that the WEP configuration controll in XP only lets me enter 1 key at a time and does not seem to take all 4 keys with the default key (index).

Drove me nuts for a hour or so, but everything worked fine as soon as I realized the difference in the WEP key numbering. Hope this helps. That's a good point about the different values for key index, Steve. However, I think that it's the network card that determines the values. I don't think that XP Home vs.

My only problem was in getting it through my thick skull that the key index for the WEP key needed to correspond to the key number used on the AP, minus one. WEP Keys
In my experiments, setting bit 31 of the key index seems to make no difference, and setting bit 30 causes the call to fail. 2) The standard says "When this OID sets the same index twice, the miniport driver should overwrite the previous WEP key at that index". What does that mean in practice?
